The CompTIA A+ Core Series requires candidates to pass two exams:

  • CompTIA A+ 220-1101 covers mobile devices, networking technology, hardware, virtualization and cloud computing.
  • CompTIA A+ 220-1102 covers operating systems, security, software and operational procedures.
The exam covering the following new content, emphasizing the technologies and skills IT pros need to support a hybrid workforce.

  • Increased reliance on SaaS applications for remote work
  • More on troubleshooting and how to remotely diagnose and correct common software, hardware, or connectivity problems
  • Changing core technologies from cloud virtualisation and IoT device security to data management and scripting

  • Reflects the changing nature of the job role, where many tasks are sent to specialised providers as certified personnel need to assess whether it’s best to fix something on site, or to save time and money by sending proprietary technologies directly to vendors
What is CompTIA A+ Certification?
CompTIA A+ is a globally recognised, vendor-neutral certification held by IT professionals around the world which provides the basic knowledge required for a career in IT. CompTIA is a global non-profit trade association for IT professionals and organisations which analyses the industry and provides certifications such as A+, Network+ and Security+. CompTIA A+ is a foundation certification proving basic IT knowledge as a computer technician. It was created in 1993 by CompTIA USA (Computing Technology Industry Association) in order to help computer technicians validate their knowledge and skills, and help them enhance their careers.

Why should I study CompTIA A+ Certification?

What is the pattern of the examination?
1. Number of Questions: Maximum of 90 questions per exam
2. Type of Questions: Multiple choice questions (single and multiple response), drag and drops and performance-based
3. Length of Test: 90 Minutes per exam
4. Passing Score: 220-1001: 675 (on a scale of 900) | 220-1002: 700 (on a scale of 900)
5. Recommended Experience: 9 to 12 months hands-on experience in the lab or field

What are the prerequisites?
There are no prerequisites, but we recommend having a good knowledge of computers and Windows-based systems

How long is my CompTIA Certification valid for?
The validity of your CompTIA certification depends on what certification you undertake. Some qualifications, such as the CompTIA A+, Network+, and Security+ have an expiry date of three years and must be re-awarded by re-sitting the exam or using the CompTIA Continuing Education (CE) Program. The CE Program works on a point-based system, and Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are collected within the three years by participating in a number of activities and training programs. The number of CEUs required to renew the qualification differs by certification; CompTIA A+ - 20 CEUS, CompTIA Network+ - 30 CEUs, CompTIA Security+ - 50 CEUs, CompTIA Cloud+ - 50 CEUs, CompTIA Server+ certification is valid indefinitely and does not expire, CompTIA Project+ certification is valid indefinitely and does not expire, The CompTIA Mobility+ certification is valid indefinitely and does not expire, and The CompTIA Linux+ certification is valid indefinitely and does not expire.
